Urban Sustainability Series
Outside of a select few urban centers like New York City, American Jews mostly live in the suburbs. While there are certain advantages to the suburban lifestyle, the environmental implications are becoming increasingly apparent. These communities are designed to be navigated by car, encourage the construction of absurdly large homes and extensively (and often chemically) landscaped lawns, allow for wastefully redundant luxuries such as private swimming pools and tennis courts and foster a general isolation from the community and its members.
Join us to explore the various advantages of city life, learn some practical skills for your own life and learn about the efforts underway in Philadelphia to make it a more sustainable city.
Please RSVP for these events.
